Shoes!

Thank you again for all the feedback! You'll see on the right side of the page that I have made a to do list for myself with all of your wonderful suggestions!

First, if you'll let me, I'd like to brag for just a moment. Today I was notified that I received full tuition scholarships to TWO different law schools! So now I have two choices of school in the Twin Cities and one in Ohio! How exciting!

Okay, on to the fashion! I felt like I looked good today, so hopefully I'm at least closer! I think this pair of jeans is much better than the other, although they still aren't perfect.

I also got several questions about shoes. I decided to post a picture of all my shoes, except for my tennis shoes and flip flops. You'd think this would be a daunting task. It isn't. I only recently became interested in wearing anything but tennis shoes. Now that I've gotten there I can't imagine going back, but I still don't have quite the collection I should because I'm very hard on shoes.
I'll start with ones I like:

And the ones I don't like:
And then all the ones that I'm not sure of, particularly the last pair of the group:

Oh, and since someone mentioned it, I actually don't mind dresses. I struggled with them for a long time because I hate my legs, but I've gotten that figured out now. This is my one and only work dress.

Congrats on the law school scholarships! That is wonderful.

I like the outfit you posted too. It was a nice touch to add the necklace, and the jeans seem to fit you better. My only concern is the sleeves look a little short on the cardigan. You could push them up a little to kind of mask the little bit of shortness. Since you added the bracelet, it will look deliberate.

#1 - I cannot tell if the color is brown or bronze, but either way, it's a good shoe that will go with a lot of outfits. It looks like it would work well with your work dress.

#2 - I love that you already own red shoes. What do you wear them with now? Nice trousers, dressed up jeans and a little black dress would all work.

#3 - Again, I don't know if it's black a brown. Sorry, I'm not the best with colors. The wedge makes it a little more casual, but it should be comfy. I probably wouldn't pair it with a nice dress, but pants and some skirts would go with them.

#4 - I'm guessing these are the shoes you were with your wedding dress. They're quite pretty. You are a braver women than I am to stand on that high stiletto heel for a full day.

#5 - This one is hard to judge off the foot. I'm not wild about the short, boxy heel.

#6 - I'd break my ankle in that shoe. I need a higher heel to wear slides. Is it camel colored or ivory? Camel is probably a little more versatile. I would try it with capris and skirts and see how it looked.

#7 - I know lots of people hate white shoes, so I could be in the minority, but I like really think those are cute. A little strappy sandal is great for spring/summer. I suggest the same kind of pairing at #6, but also flirty-type dresses would be nice with it too (like the look you were going for with your honeymoon dress).

#8 - Fine for the snow and walking the dog, but these are not really fashion. Tall leather boots are classic and look great with everything from pants and jeans to dresses. Both heels and flats are in style. Black or brown will be the most versatile colors, obviously. Since money is tight, you might want to wait until next fall. However, you might find some on sale this time of year.

Missing - I don't see any flats. I think you'll eventually want at least one pair. It would provide with you a polished, but still comfertable, alternative to tennis shoes. Ballet flats are everywhere now, but still a classic. Other choices would include loafer or driving shoe styles. Are any of your tennis shoes a dressier style, like a slimmer cut Puma, vs. a true athletic shoe?

I know this is really long. I warned you that I was excited about the shoes.

Congrats on the scholarships! That is very good news and must be very exciting for you!

I do like the outfit - you are getting better - the jeans do fit better but I think we can get an even better fit than that. I like that you added some jewerly to add some interest and I do agree that the sleeves looked a smidge too short - just push them up a little bit.

I know you have been saying that you don't want to buy a ton of clothes all at once and I know where you are coming from - I wanted to tell you to start getting chatty with the sales people in the department stores - the good sales people will put you in their books and will call you when they have sales going on, I just got a call from my girl at Dillards letting me know that they just marked down everything on sale an extra 30% knowing about these kind of sales really helps out my pocketbook.

About the shoes - I like that you are getting rid of the shoes with the smaller kitten heels, no one but Audrey Hepburn ever looked good in kitten heels. I would love to wear kitten heels but I am no Audrey Hepburn and I am too darn short. I didn't notice any flats or any cute boots and I love the red shoes - very kicky!!

I thought the red shoes would go over well!! They are actually the only red thing I own, and I think I've only worn them twice - need to get that courage up!!

Thanks for the tip about getting sales people to call you. I didn't know they did that. I do get emails about lots of sales though. I'm a big fan of mailing lists :-)

Fab news re your scholarships! My advice is to go to the school that is closer to the region where you want to live and practice.

Not fashion, but I thought I'd let you know anyway. ;)

Great start on the shoes--I would get rid of the white boots, as far as professional clothing goes. (I would get rid of them everywhere if I could, but thats not what this is about)
Also, I think that you will find that wedges are more comfy than heels, I can wear them all day and not be sore. I can't say the same for heels, but I love them anyways.
I would reccommend getting a great pair of black boots. They are awesome for the freezing days under your pants, or even with a dress to hide your legs. (I don't know how long your brown dress is-but I can tell you it would be cute with boots)
Also, Anything you wear will look best on you if you wear it with confidence. That always adds that extra something to your wardrobe.

You're doing well with shoes. I agree that you need some cute flats--there is something between sneakers and heels. :) Nine West has some great options in that category, usually.

You also need a pair of high leather boots--brown or black. I am the world's #1 Ugg hater. :)

And congrats on the law school scholarships! Not having to pay will allow you to pursue the law job you want rather than having to take a job just to pay your loans. I agree w/ Weezer's advice--go to law school where you want to settle down--it will make finding a job much easier!
