Some more new things....

Okay, those last two didn't photograph well. I can't find a picture, but they both are shirts with a really low wrap with a tank top built in. The brown one is probably the best example of it. They're very casual. I look a bit lumpy in the picture in the black shirt, but I think it's just how the shirt is laying. It's not like tight in the middle or anything like that.

2 notes: I tried buying a couple new bras, but they are going to be returned. Getting a bigger band size (which, unfortunately, means that I will probably have to special order bras forever) is AWESOME, but they are completely unlined, which I don't care for. Plus, the reason you can see it in the last picture is because it's a bit frumpy. Just wanted you to know I'm trying! I think I'm going to order the same size in a different style.

Secondly: This may be a matter of finding the RIGHT pencil skirt, but after tonight, I really don't have a very high opinion of them, though several of you have recommended. I tried one on. I think perhaps you guys aren't seeing that I have a BIG butt. A big, prominent, bubble butt! The skirt made my butt look enormous. Should I keep trying? Or are a-lines going to be the way to go?

I have a thick middle and big thighs. I do NOT wear pencil skirts. They make me look like a sausage trying to burst out of its casing.

A-lines are universally flattering.

Who is telling you to wear pencil skirts?! No bueno!

I think that all 3 of those shirts are nice casual-wear pieces for you. Add a little jewelry, and you're good-to-go. I prefer the look of the 3/4 length sleeves rather than the cap sleeves because they de-emphasize the arms. However, I like the neckline best on the first blouse.

I'm not fond of unlined bras either. It's great you've found your correct size though!

I was one to recommend A-line skirts, not pencil. In my experience, pencil skirts do emphasize the booty, and not necessarily in a good way.

I think as far as skirts are concerned, you just need to find one that looks straight on you, instead of flowy. That's probably why someone suggested pencil skirts.

I would look for some a-line skirts instead of pencil skirts, they are flattering to everyone.

I like the tops - but prefer the look of the 3/4 lenth sleeves as well

wait, did you order the bras online without being fitted in an actual store? if so, that is not the right way to do it. it's absolutely essential that you go to a real live person in a good department store (i.e. nordstroms, macy's, etc) and get fitted! just ordering online what you think may work is just going to be frustrating. once you find something you like after being fitted and trying it on in-store, you can then move to the internet and try to find better deals on said bras.

Ha, I can't wear pencil skirts with my bubble butt either. No worries, I stick to A-lines, and they look just as nice with the right tops.

I can't remember who said pencil skirts, but I know someone did, because I remember reading it and thinking "...really?????" but I decided I should try one on, just in case, since the point of this blog is to learn from others. I think probably they were aiming for a straighter skirt and so suggested pencil skirt. I hope so anyway, because the pencil skirts were bad news!!!!

And as for the bras - I followed the directions to have my h measure me, and then ordered. The problem is that most stores, with the exception of possibly Lane Bryant, just don't carry my size. They usually only carry the bigger band sizes in C and up, and I'm just barely a B. I plan on going to Lane Bryant some time in the near future, and I'll try bras there. But until then, and if they don't carry my size either, at least the place I ordered from has free exchanges!

Having your husband measure you and having a professional measure you are not going to yield the same results. You really need to just suck it up and let someone who measures and fits people in bras for a living do it. These fittings are *free* and you don't have to buy something if you're worried that the better department stores are out of your price range.

I also think you should stay away from cap sleeves--they make even the twiggiest of arms look huge.

Run, don't walk, to Lane Bryant and let them fit you for a bra. I've been shopping there since the late 90s and they are the only bras and jeans I'll wear now. Once you find the right size/style for you, you can go online and order them with discount codes. :)

Okay, I've refrained from commenting so far because the other girls have been giving you good advice but I must chime in now. You have to go to nordies oe Macy's for a fitting, if not L. Bryant. Just because you don't see your size on the rack doesn't mean anything. They can special order bras for you in a style you like and it doesn't cost anymore than the ones on the rack. You do need to consider getting more foundation garments - shapers, Spanx high rise panties, etc. They well smooth out your middle so your shirts don't look lumpy.

Personally I do not like how any of the ones in this post look on you, they are not flattering on you. You need more structure to tops, the thin knits are fine under a structured jacket. And stay away from shiny/satin blouse/tops it only attracts attention to your problem area and unfortunately will make even the skinniest girl look bigger.

And I know others have commented before, but when taking pics find an area that is a simple back drop, a clean wall w/o pictures, etc. hanging around. The clutter is distracting.

Dude, I do NOT like the black shirt. The neckline is weird and it kinda makes you look boxy.

I don't like either of the layered shirts. LOVE the first one, though. I want it.
